A Gentle Approach to a Less-Toxic Bathroom

The bathroom holds more daily-contact products than any other room: things you rub into skin, breathe as steam, and use morning and night. That makes it the highest-leverage place to simplify — and the easiest to do gradually.
Swap as things run out
There’s no need to bin everything today. As each product empties, replace it with a simpler version:
- A bar soap instead of a plastic bottle of body wash.
- A basic, fragrance-free moisturizer.
- A vinegar-and-water spray for the tiles and glass.
Fewer, better
Most of us own far more bathroom products than we use. Paring back to a handful of things you genuinely reach for is cleaner in every sense — less clutter on the counter, less to breathe in the steam, and less money spent on bottles that expire half-full. Gentle and gradual wins here.
