The 15-Minute Nightly Reset That Keeps My House Sane

A kitchen being tidied during an evening reset

The difference between a house that feels calm and one that feels chaotic usually isn’t deep-cleaning — it’s the fifteen minutes before bed. A nightly reset is a small, repeatable loop that hands tomorrow-you a home that’s already halfway sorted.

The loop

  1. Clear and wipe the kitchen counters.
  2. Run the dishwasher (or wash the last few things).
  3. Do a two-minute “float” through the main rooms, returning stray items home.
  4. Set out what you need for the morning.

That’s it. No system to maintain, no app, no guilt. The magic is that it’s short enough to actually do every night — which is the only reason it works.
